FAKHR AD-DIN RAZI, AR-

Abu 'abd Allah Muhammad ibn 'Umar ibn al-Husayn Fakhr ad-Din ar-Razi borned b. 1149 in Rayy, Iran and died 1209 near Herat, Khwarezm, was a brilliant theologian and scholar the century after al-Ghazali. He compiled one of the most authoritative commentaries on the Qur'an and the history of Islam. He often went to length to quote the opinions of those before him and even presented the views of his opponents in a very detailed manner before refuting them.
