212 THE KEY OF MYSTERIES

Son, the same hath not the Father: he that confesseth the Son hath the Father also': and again: 'He 1 that believeth on the Son hath eternal life; but he that obeyeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.'

As the Gospel clearly teaches us, God Most High has revealed Himself unto men through His Word, the Lord Jesus Christ, and in Him has in a marvellous degree shown forth His justice and His mercy in complete harmony with each other. We thus learn that it is not in accordance with God's gracious will that any of the human race should perish, for it is written that God: 'willeth 2 that all men should be saved, and come to the knowledge of the truth:' and again: 'The 3 Lord is not slack concerning his promise, . . . but is longsuffering to you-ward, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein shall be burned up.'

Our heartfelt prayer for you, our honoured readers, for whose salvation as well as for ours the Lord Jesus Christ laid down His life and rose again from the dead, is that the Most Gracious God, through His Holy Spirit, may grant you the light

of His guidance and enable you to see clearly, through the verses from the holy Scriptures which we have quoted in this tractate, that only by means of that true knowledge of God which is taught in the holy Gospel, and only through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, can you obtain salvation, true and pure happiness, and eternal life. May He, of His infinite love and mercy, enable you to attain that faith and obtain that salvation.

Our object in composing this little book has been to remove those difficulties which often hinder our Muslim brothers from accepting the holy Scriptures as truly the word of God, and from believing what God Most High has therein revealed concerning His own most holy nature and the way of salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. For it is written: 'In l none other is there salvation: for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, wherein we must be saved.' To His holy name be honour, glory and praise, now and for ever. Amen.
